Lee Ryan’s turbulent time in the Celebrity Big Brother house has come to an end after he was given the boot in a surprise Sunday night eviction.
The Blue singer lost out on a place in Wednesday night’s final after polling the lowest number of public votes out of the remaining seven housemates.
His departure leaves Casey Batchelor, Sam Faiers, Ollie Locke, Jim Davidson, Luisa Zissman and Dappy to compete for the series title.
And despite his surprise at being evicted so abruptly, Lee admitted afterwards he was relieved to have gone when he did.
“I knew something was happening because we were talking about it earlier and I thought I hope that it’s me because that place started to do my head in,” he told Emma Willis.
“I swear, I am really happy to be out, I can go see my kids now and I can get on with my life.”
However he found himself put on the spot when asked about his relationship with Casey – saying he had never intended things to become serious with her.
“From the first moment I met Casey I was ‘I’m just here to have fun, I don’t want a relationship’,” the singer explained.
“When I sat down with her and she said ‘You’re embarrassing me’ and I didn’t know what to do. She said, ‘Well, you should have thought about that first’, and I honestly didn’t know what to say.
“I’m not responsible for Casey’s feelings. She is very full on. It’s very difficult in there,” Lee admitted.
“If it’s an open and honest thing we do, then why am I being scrutinised for it? I’m not a mind reader. She’s told me she likes me, but then she’s like, ‘It’s cool, we’re friends’.”
He added that it had been “horrible” to be confronted by Jasmine Waltz when she made her surprise return to the house on Saturday.
Celebrity Big Brother continues on Channel 5 on Monday night.
