Rylan Clark has won the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother, following a closely fought final which saw him competing against his arch enemies Speidi for the title.

The former X Factor finalist – who had been the bookies’ hot favourite to win – triumphed over the American reality stars, who came second despite their largely hostile reaction from the crowd.

Earlier in the evening Neighbours star Ryan Moloney came third, Steps’ Claire Richards finished fourth and former footballer Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock was in fifth place.

A delighted Rylan wept upon hearing he had won the show – sparking the inevitable comparisons to his infamous meltdown upon learning he had reached the live finals of The X Factor.

However he recovered himself in time to exit the house to a hugely positive response – and afterwards told Brian Dowling that winning the show was ‘a dream come true’.

“For the past year, all people have been doing is picking up a phone for me, and I really appreciate it with all my heart,” he added.

“They hated me three months ago – I don’t know what’s going on!”

The self-confessed Big Brother fan also had a few harsh words to say about Heidi and Spencer, joking: “They gave me a headache,” – but still stuck up for them despite their clashes in the house.

“I don’t have any ties to them but they are a genuine couple and they are in love with each other, they are absolutely made for each other,” Rylan admitted.

Meanwhile Heidi and Spencer – who left the house to an almost universally hostile reaction from the crowd – did little to defend their behaviour.

“We went in there trying to be the most entertaining we could be,” Spencer revealed, while Heidi added: “It’s just a game, you’re supposed to be trying to win…I didn’t think people took it seriously.”
