Not Going Out fans will be pleased to hear there's a Christmas special with Lee Mack, Sally Bretton, Bobby Ball and Hugh Dennis all returning
Lee Mack’s hit BBC1 comedy Not Going Out is returning for a festival special which will see his character facing a potential Christmas present disaster and very upset children!
The last series of the comedy – a significant change from earlier series – saw Lee and Lucy (Sally Bretton) struggle with being parents to seven year old Charlie, five year old twins Benji and Molly, while also desperately trying to enjoy the odd romantic moment.
Now it’s Christmas Eve and the hapless couple are facing a huge present crisis when they realise grandparents Geoffrey (Geoffrey Whitehead) and Wendy (Deborah Grant) have bought the same gift as them for the children.
Poor Lee has to rush out to buy a suitable substitute, but of course the shops are closing and the race is on to avoid the ultimate present fail and disappoint his three beloved children.
Fans will be pleased that Bobby Ball is back as Lee’s useless father Frank, while friends Tony (Hugh Dennis) and Anna (Abigail Cruttenden) also return.
This isn’t of course the first time Lee and Lucy have faced Christmas disaster. In the 2015 special Lucy, who was heavily pregnant, and Lee found themselves being held hostage in a shopping centre. While in the 2013 Christmas special the gang ended up in a haunted country house.
Perhaps they should stay at home at Christmas!
