Jessie J admitted that it was “liberating” to lose her locks after she had her head shaved live on Comic Relief’s annual telethon on Friday night.
The Price Tag singer and Voice judge was seen backstage on the show with only her thick dark fringe still in place – before that was also shaved off.
And she described her new look as “the weirdest feeling” as she unveiled it live on air.
Admitting she had felt nervous before undergoing the shave, she added. “It feels so liberating. But it isn’t about this, it’s about donating.”
Jessie raised over half a million pounds for her efforts, adding it was “amazing” to have made so much money for the charity – and that it had been an emotional experience for both her and her family.
“Everyone’s crying,” she said. My mum’s back there, crying with happiness.
However she added that her mother liked her new look despite her tearful response.
Friday night’s Comic Relief show, which featured contributions from a host of stars including One Direction, Simon Cowell, David Tennant, Michael McIntyre, Peter Kay, Kate Moss, Miranda Hart and Russell Brand, raised a record total of over £75m to help causes both in Africa and at home.
