Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has welcomed his first child, a baby girl, with actress wife Lucy-Jo Hudson.

The actor – who plays Tyrone Dobbs in the ITV soap – broke the news to his followers via Twitter after the new arrival finally made an appearance on Saturday.

“Lucy-Jo and I are delighted to announce the arrival of our little girl born this morning,” he said, “Mother and baby are home with a very proud Father.”

He signed off with “Welcome #babyhalsall.”

The name of the baby, who was born nine days after Lucy-Jo’s due date, has yet to be revealed.

Alan and Lucy-Jo originally met on the set of Coronation Street, where she starred as troubled teen Katy Harris.

They married in 2009 after a four-year romance, and announced in February this year that they were expecting their first child.
