David’s plan to avenge Kylie’s murder went tragically wrong when he crashed his car and saw Anna go up in flames!
Coronation Street fans were left gasping with shock after Friday night’s dramatic car crash with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) resulted in Anna Windass (Debbie Rush) going up in flames.

Horrific scenes showed Anna engulfed in flames
David had taken off in his car loaded with full petrol cans, determined to turn himself into a human fireball that would explode at court, killing wife Kylie’s murderer, Clayton.
But David’s young daughter, Lily, had wandered into the road and horrified David swerved to avoid hitting her. Instead, he hit a skip in the road and flipped his car which ended up upside-down.
Gary Windass (Mikey North), who had raced to whisk Lily out of danger, was trapped underneath with the little girl.
A Herculean effort by residents, saw the car lifted and Gary and Lily dragged to safety.

David was relieved when Lily was dragged to safety
But as they all walked away, relieved, the car exploded and one of the loaded petrol cans hurtled straight towards Anna.

She didn’t stand a chance.
Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) was quick to smother the flames which engulfed Anna’s legs, but she now lays critically ill in hospital.
“It was an accident,” mumbled Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price), who knew David was hellbent on revenge.
But is that what Kevin and Gary will think if they find out what David was really trying to do?
And what will David do if Anna dies?
He was on a suicide mission to avenge Kylie’s death. Will he be able to live with himself if he causes Anna’s death?
