Antony Cotton signs extended contract on Coronation Street

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton is set for a longer stay in Weatherfield, after he signed a new contract with the show.

The 38-year-old, who plays gay Underworld factory worker and barman Sean Tully, announced the news on Twitter.

“It gives me the greatest pleasure to say that I have just signed a new contract with @itvcorrie. Happy days!” he wrote.

Antony, who joined Coronation Street in 2003, hinted that a big plot for his alter-ego is in the pipeline.

“So that sees Sean staying at number 11 until at least August next year, with a very exciting and unique storyline beginning this autumn,” he continued.

After receiving messages about his new deal, the actor added: “Thank you for all your messages about my new work contract. Excited about the upcoming year.”

Antony, who previously starred in Queer As Folk, has won a number of awards for his performance as Sean, including a National Television Award, an Inside Soap Awards honour for funniest character and best actor at the British Soap Awards in 2007.
