Coronation Street star Beverley Callard has revealed her engagement to long-term partner Jon McEwan.
The actress, who plays Rovers landlady Liz McDonald, credited Jon with bringing her back from the brink of despair when she was battling depression.
She told the Daily Mirror: “I can’t keep it secret any longer. Jon and I are getting married.
“I am so in love, and so ecstatic to be engaged. Jon and I just fit. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him. It sounds dramatic, but he definitely saved my life.”
Jon, 45, proposed to Bev, 53, on a beach in southern Spain last month.
The star, who has been married three times before, said this time her wedding will be ‘massive’.
Among her 18 bridesmaids will be her actress daughter Rebecca and Jon’s daughter Danielle, as well as her pals Denise Welch and Coleen Nolan and Coronation Street co-stars Kym Marsh and Katherine Kelly.
Bev said: “They’re going to wear little black dresses and look stunning. You know what? I might even wear white. There will be nothing subtle about our do. We’ll have the party of all parties.”
Beverley took time out of her role on the soap last year to be treated for depression in the Priory clinic.
