Coronation Street duo Georgia May Foote and Paula Lane are reported to have been offered six-figure salaries in a bid to keep them in the soap.

According to The Sun the pair – who play Katy Armstrong and Kylie Platt – are set to pocket £100,000 in new deals with the ITV show, as well as being promised some dramatic storylines.

An insider told the paper that executive producer Stuart Blackburn was keen to keep the pair on the show following the departure of other popular stars such as Michelle Keegan – with Georgia being touted as the soap’s new sex symbol.

“Losing Michelle was a real blow to Corrie and Stuart was adamant that we needed a gorgeous actress to step up,” the source explained.

“Georgia May was an obvious choice. It was clear they were desperate for her to sign and would bend over backwards to make sure that she did.”

Meanwhile Paula has also agreed to stay with Corrie for another 12 months, although will take a break later this year for her wedding to fiance Tom Shaw.

“Losing Paula would have been a blow,” the insider insisted. “But they were able to talk her round and Kylie will be playing a much bigger role on the Street in the coming months.”
