Eva and Adam split!
There was a surprise twist in tonight’s Coronation Street when Adam Barlow walked away from his relationship with Eva Price – despite being madly in love with her.
Eva and Adam left the cobbles last week to start a new life together in France. Eva had originally intended to leave alone, but smitten Solicitor Adam persuaded her to let him join her, and it looked like they’d both got their happy ever after.
But when the pair returned to Weatherfield so that Eva could give evidence at Aidan’s inquest, Adam was left unsettled as his girlfriend told the court about her deep love for her late ex boyfriend. Realising she’d never feel the same way about him as she did the former factory boss, Adam reluctantly called time on their reunion, and told Eva he’d be remaining on the cobbles rather than returning to France with her and baby Susie.
“I’m staying Eva; I can’t come with you. I heard what you said in court,” a beaten Adam told the blonde.
“You still feel the same way now. You said yourself you’d do anything to have him back. I don’t think I can live with that.”
And when Eva insisted that she “needed” him, Adam quickly retorted: “Need’s not the same as love. It’s too soon: you’re not ready to move on yet. I need you to love me, just as much as you did him.”
Eva then left for the airport in the back of a black cab (how else?), telling her daughter “It’s just me and you now, babes.”
The scenes marked Catherine Tyldesley’s exit from the show following a seven year stint, but the actress says she hasn’t ruled out a return to Coronation Street in the future.
“I always dreamed of being on Corrie,” the 34 year old recently told us, “and I would love to see Eva come back and reap some more havoc. That would be brilliant.”
Coronation Street continues on ITV.
