Coronation Street: Ken Barlow returns to save son Peter?

Ken Barlow is set to make his comeback to Coronation Street later this summer, just as his son Peter is up in court, charged with Tina McIntyre’s murder .

William Roache, who plays Peter Barlow’s father, was written out of the soap after allegations of historic sex offences. But he has now returned to filming after being cleared of all charges.

Ken’s absence from the Street was explained with a storyline that saw him fly to Canada to care for his sick grandson, Adam.

But when Ken returns to Weatherfield he will find son Peter is also desperately in need of his help, reports the Mirror.

For Ken returns just in time to see Peter in the dock for his lover Tina’s murder.

Ken and Tracy Barlow, played by Kate Ford, arrive at the back gate of the Weatherfield Crown Court just in time to see the prison van carrying Peter Barlow, played by Chris Gascoyne, into the court to face his murder trial.

In the court’s gallery, the pair are visibly moved and comfort each other.

The 82-year-old actor, who has played Ken Barlow since Coronation Street began in 1960, has reportedly returned to filming on a reduced schedule to ease him back into a full-time comeback.
