Ben Price has signed a contract to remain in Coronation Street for another year.

The actor, who took over the role of heartthrob Nick Tilsley in 2009, met up with soap bosses to discuss his Weatherfield future, and put pen to paper after hearing about the “amazing plans” they have in store for his character.

A Corrie spokesperson confirmed the news, adding: “There are loads of big storylines coming up and he’ll be romancing more of the Street’s ladies.”

“Ben loves Coronation Street and he loves playing Nick,” a source told the Daily Star.

“He’s had some fantastic storylines over the last year and thinks the writers have some amazing plans for Nick.

“It wasn’t exactly a hard decision to make. He’s thrilled to stay and can’t wait to sink his teeth into some of the juiciest storylines he’s ever had.”

Ben has been kept busy since his debut on the cobbles in December 2009, including having to defend mum Gail after she was charged with murder.

The businessman was left heartbroken when his first wife Leanne Battersby failed to choose him over husband Peter Barlow.

It was recently revealed that Nick will fall into bed with Becky McDonald, who hopes to make her estranged husband Steve jealous by having the fling.

“Nick’s hot, free and single. That can only mean trouble for Weatherfield’s women,” an insider teased.
