Kym Ryder has reportedly signed up with a big pay rise to stay on as Coronation Street barmaid Michelle Connor.

The former Hear’Say singer has renewed her contract and her salary has been almost doubled, from £60,000-a-year to £100,000, reports The Sun.

A source is quoted as saying: “When producers offered her a new contract and more money, she didn’t hesitate to say yes.”

And it seems the 32-year-old actress has negotiated more flexible hours so she can spend more time with her children – David, 12, and Emily, 10.

Since Kym joined the soap in 2006, she has won a National Television Award, a British Soap Award and a TV Quick award.

Her feisty character Michelle has just dumped fiance Steve MacDonald when she discovered he’d cheated on her. Kym recently confessed she hoped Michelle found out who Steve had his one-night-stand with, because she loves a good catfight. Steve had a fling with Beck Granger, who is about to join Michelle behind the bar of the Rovers Return as a barmaid.

“She doesn’t suspect Becky at all,” says Kym. “There’s lots of comedy, lots of drama and fights along the way. I do hope she finds out because I think it would be very explosive and there may even be a b***h fight. You never know.”
