Coronation St’s Rupert reveals Hollywood hopes

Former Coronation Street star Rupert Hill has apparently admitted he’d like to try to crack Hollywood.

Rupert, who played Jamie Baldwin in the ITV1 soap, agreed that it would be nice to follow the likes of ex-Corrie star Matthew Marsden and try his hand in Tinseltown.

“Yeah, that wouldn’t be a kick in the teeth,” he smiled. “That’d be all right.”

Rupert has just finished filming a four-part special of The Bill and will be treading the boards in Once Upon A Time in Wigan, which premieres at The Octagon Theatre in Bolton next month.

But would he like to return to Weatherfield in the future?

“I’m hoping that I don’t, because I’ve done my stint there and I really enjoyed it,” he said. “I had a cracking time and I’m looking forward to doing some different things, but obviously I never say never.”

He added that his favourite memories were the people and being in Manchester.

“I’ve made some really, really good friends up there, and being in Manchester was great for me because it’s a really big musical town for bands – my group (the Yellow Dog Band) are all from Manchester.

“I still live there now so I just love it,” he said.
