Coronation Street bosses have been forced to abandon a violent cat fight involving actress Kym Marsh, who recently revealed she is pregnant.
A scene involving a fight between Kym’s character Michelle and her love rival Becky, played by Katherine Kelly, has had to be toned down after Kym, 32, announced she was expecting a baby with boyfriend, Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas, according to The Sun.
The fight breaks out when Michelle finds out loverat boyfriend Steve McDonald is leaving her for lover Becky, and was originally scripted for Michelle to have a “full-on brawl” with her rival.
The script has now been changed and will feature a screaming Michelle throw beer over Becky before pulling her hair and engaging in a less vicious scuffle.
A source told The Sun: “The love triangle between Michelle, Steve and Becky has had viewers gripped for months and we were planning a really shocking climax.
“But when we realised Kym was expecting we toned things down. What was to have been a full on brawl turned into hair-pulling and drink-throwing.”
Viewers have already seen how Steve (played by Simon Gregson) has delayed leaving Michelle, telling Becky he didn’t want to hurt her too much, but Michelle flips when she finds out Steve is leaving her and giving Becky the £8,000 engagement ring meant for herself.
The source added: “It’s still a great scene. Michelle is furious when she sees Becky sporting her sparkler and lets rip.
“When she calls her a ‘whippet in a frock who can’t keep her knickers up’, Becky goes ballistic.”
