Coronation Street star Jimmi Harkishin has said he can’t wait to welcome Michael Le Vell and William Roache back to work on the soap.

Stars of the ITV programme were at the Coronation Street for Caudwell Children fundraising ball in Manchester and Jimmi, 49, who plays Dev Alahan, told the Daily Mirror he was looking forward to being reunited with his old co-stars.

He said: “It’s like getting the family back together again. The cast are so thrilled that we are all going to be reunited after so much has gone on.”

Michael, who plays Kevin Webster, has been on a break from Corrie and in rehab after a much-publicised child abuse trial, where he was cleared of all charges against him.

Jimmi continued: “I understand Michael has coped really well with his rehabilitation and is on top form to come back to the studios. I’ve not seen him yet, but we’re all looking forward to his return.”

He added of William, who has recently returned to work as Ken Barlow after his own high profile court case: “Bill is back working and it’s like he hasn’t missed a minute. He is such a perfectionist as an actor and it’s terrific to have him around.

“It’s been a crazy year or so, but it feels like we’re back to normal. The Corrie crew are rocking!”

Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, agreed: “We all know Michael is doing fine and will be back in front of the cameras very soon. It’s all great, positive stuff at the moment.”

Michael confirmed his Coronation Street return on Twitter, writing: “Hi all, sorry not been on here for ages but I’ve had a few things to sort out.

“But I’m back now and I’m back to work in a few weeks, I’m so looking forward to getting back to the job I love and all the people there who are like my second family I love them all.”
