Coronation Street’s Michelle Keegan has donated herself to charity in support of the Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference UK programme.

Michelle, who plays the Street’s Tina McIntyre, is joining hundreds of other people in the scheme.

Five hundred members of the public will get the chance to work on a two-month paid placement with a UK charity of their choice – using an online matchmaker to help those interested to find the perfect one to help with their skills.

Vodafone Foundation boss Andrew Dunnett said: “For people who feel passionate about a charity or cause, or for those who simply have time on their hands, Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference programme offers an ideal opportunity to help others whilst gaining valuable life and work experience.”

“World of Difference UK gives people who want to donate themselves, and get paid, the chance to put that passion into practice.”

The deadline for applications is November 3 and the first placements will begin in January 2010.
