A new row over Twitter product placement has hit the Coronation Street cast after it emerged that some of them have promoted a drinks company on their pages.
Catherine Tyldesley, Shobna Gulati, Ryan Thomas and Kym Lomas are among those who have reportedly mentioned Cheshire-based firm Juice Life on the microblogging site.
Other cast members have also been snapped posing with the company’s drinks on their pages.
Catherine – who plays Eva Price on the soap – apparently told her followers to ‘give @juicelifedrinks a follow and witness the fitness’ – while Ryan added he loves his personal trainer who ‘got me on @juicelifedrinks’.
A spokesperson for the show told The Sun: “No Coronation Street actors were paid for tweeting about the product.”
Several cast members have run into trouble following a sting set up by Channel 4’s Dispatches – which saw them tweeting about products they had been given by a bogus ‘gifting suite’ in Manchester.
Producer Stuart Blackburn has reported sent letters to the stars ‘reminding them of their responsibilities’ after a number subsequently promoted the fake bags and beauty products on their Twitter pages.
