Coronation Street‘s Hayley Tamaddon says she’d like a romance to blossom between Andrea Beckett and Steve McDonald.
The 37-year-old admitted her dream is to see her character stir up trouble between her college classmate Steve (Simon Gregson) and his girlfriend Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) on the ITV soap.
“It’s what the fans want to see. I’m hoping for a bust-up between Michelle and Andrea at some point,” she told the Daily Star.
“Everybody keeps asking me when Andrea and Steve will finally get together. It happens all the time. They’re practically begging me. I get tweets all the time saying, ‘Please say you’ll get with Steve.'”
The actress teased: “I can’t say what’s coming up, but fans might get what they want. It would be boring if everyone was happy all the time. Everybody watching wants a bit of drama.”
Hayley, who formerly played Delilah Dingle in ITV soap Emmerdale, joined Coronation Street last December.
“There’s some really good stuff on its way. I’ve been very lucky,” she continued. “The schedule can be intense. If you’re in every scene that day, you’re filming for 12 hours – and that’s a lot of lines. But jobs like this don’t come round very often and I’m living the dream.”
The actress, who won the 2010 series of Dancing On Ice with partner Daniel Whiston and returned to take part in the ‘all-stars’ final series earlier this year, added: “I’ve watched Corrie since I can remember and my mum can’t believe I’m actually on the show.”
