Coronation Street‘s Marc Baylis has said his character Rob Donovan will put his feud with sister, Carla Connor, aside when Peter Barlow cheats on her.
Carla (Alison King) is busy planning her wedding to Peter (Chris Gascoyne), but the serial cheater’s head is set to be turned once again by Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) who has been babysitting his son, Simon.
Although Rob has been at war with his sister and Peter since he left factory Underworld, he is going to reunite with Carla to support her through her heartbreak.
Marc told the Inside Soap Yearbook 2014: “Rob will be there for Carla in the wake of Peter’s affair, without a doubt. Situations like that always bring them back together. The love between the two of them should never be doubted.
“There’s a reason why there’s so much anger and frustration between them, but at the end of the day, Carla’s still his sister. And if she really needed him, Rob would be there for her in a flash.”
Marc also admitted his character had divided the audience because he wasn’t an easy person to like.
He said: “The frustration the audience has felt with Rob is that he’s a real pain in the backside and he causes a lot of trouble. So it’s taken people quite a bit of time to warm to him. It’s only because we’ve tried to make him more of a lovable rogue that he isn’t completely detested.
“But I think we’re starting to see a different side to the character now, and we have seen his different tactics as this feud has played out – and that’s managed to throw the viewers somewhat.”
