Coronation Street star Marc Baylis has revealed that Tracy Barlow is the Lady Macbeth behind Rob Donovan’s latest scheme.

Fed up with being treated like a dogsbody in the bookies by Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne), Rob hatches a plan to steal £20,000 from his sister Carla Connor (Alison King), after being spurred on by his girlfriend Tracy, played by Kate Ford.

Marc, who plays Rob, told the Coronation Street website: “Tracy fuels Rob in true Lady Macbeth style to pull a scam out of the bag. Rob takes things into his own hands by stealing Carla’s silk and setting himself up. The whole plan is for Rob to find his own feet and get out of Underworld to become self-sufficient.”

He continued: “Tracy seriously pulls it out of the bag and her lies are through the roof! Something happens which even Rob isn’t expecting; so much so that even Rob thinks it’s actually happened.”

Rob, who already has a criminal record, could face time in prison if his plan is uncovered, but is hoping Carla will stay strong to their roots.

“Rob has an underlying belief that because of their family ties and their past, Carla will not send him back to that place or even report him for the crime,” the actor added.

“He’s definitely pushing his luck and that’s a chance he takes, but it’s more through Tracy coercing and guiding him that makes him go through with it.”

The scenes will screen on Coronation Street on ITV from Friday, May 24.
