Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan says she doesn’t believe Tina McIntyre is in danger of getting too close to her surrogate baby.

Barmaid Tina, is pregnant with a surrogate baby for friends Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Izzy Armstrong’s (Cherylee Houston) baby.

Michelle said: “I met up with a lady called Jo who was a surrogate mum and she said when she was carrying she didn’t get attached, she didn’t really touch her stomach a lot, when it moved she didn’t go ‘Oh my God my baby’s moving’. It was just ‘I’m carrying the baby for someone else, this is their baby, I’m just The Womb.’ She called herself The Womb.

“So I’m doing it like that, when I’m on screen I don’t touch my bump a lot. And when they go for scans, Tina always turns away, she never looks at the screen.

“I think Tina is quite mature for her age, and doing this is a massive thing, and even when her boyfriend said he would leave her because he didn’t want her to, she still went ahead, because she wanted to give Gary and Izzy a baby, because she’s a good person.”

But Michelle is a bit nervous about giving birth on screen.

She confessed: “I was there when Kirsty (Natalie Gumede) was giving birth, and honestly, it looked so real, so I’m the next one to give birth. I don’t know how I’m going to follow it. But it’s going to have to come out some way!”
