Coronation Street actor Sol Heras has said he’d like to see redemption for his love rat character Ryan Connor.

The ITV soap bad boy recently broke up Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote) and Chesney Brown’s (Sam Aston) relationship but quickly tired of playing stand-in dad to their baby son Joseph and cheated on Katy on a night out.

Sol told This Morning: “He’s done nothing right since he’s come back! It’s great to come in every day and have these storylines thrown at you where you’re spinning off the planet in all these scenes. It’s great fun to play and there’s always something new.”

But talking about Ryan’s future on the Street, he said: “It’s always nice to have layers. He’s just caused problems for everyone since he’s come back. It’d be nice to have a redeeming story, maybe a grounding story, to show that he can help other people out and not just prioritise himself all the time.”

Georgia said it would be difficult for Chesney to take her character Katy back when she gets sick of Ryan’s cheating ways in Coronation Street.

“I think she’s embarrassed at this moment in time, because she wanted it to work so much and it hasn’t done. She just doesn’t want to prove everyone right,” she said.

“I think Ches despises Katy now. Every time he looks at her, he always says, ‘All I can see is her and him together’. I think there’ll be a lot of trust to build if they do get back together.”
