Coronation Street star Faye Brooks has revealed that Kate Connor takes drastic action to push Rana into admitting her feelings - and her gamble pays off!
Coronation Street’s Faye Brooks has talked to Soaplife about love-sick Kate Connor’s dramatic bid to win over Rana, despite their relationship being strictly off limits. And her gamble leads to a surprising twist!
What’s the story?
It’s killing Kate Connor to keep seeing Rana when she’s madly in love with her so in an attempt to get a reaction out of her would-be lover, Kate announces she’s off to Spain with her dad and stepmum.
“Kate thinks if she takes the candy away and leaves Rana with nothing then maybe Rana will tell her how she truly feels because Rana keeps putting the ball in Kate’s court – it’s too much pressure so this is Kate’s way of turning the tables,” actress Faye Brooks tells Soaplife. But does it have the desired effect?
Faye Brooks’ interview with Soaplife
Soaplife: How does Rana react to Kate’s news?
Faye Brooks: “She doesn’t react and this frustrates Kate even more, leading Kate to think this could ruin their friendship in addition to any relationship. The strong chemistry between them remains but now they are frosty, uncomfortable with each other and don’t get on. “
SL: Does Kate confide in anyone?
KB: “She breaks down in front of Luke. Kate’s never felt like this before and the fact that she can’t have Rana makes it even more of a struggle. She is very vulnerable and left with this broken heart without even having the relationship and break-up. She tells Luke everything.”
SL: That’s one big burden for him to carry!
KB: “To put it all on Luke is awful – from an outside perspective I can’t believe Kate does that! But I am so glad she finally has someone to talk to.”
SL: What happens next?
KB: “Kate seems to come to terms with her feelings but then Zeedan sends Rana and Kate to attend a food fair on his behalf.”
SL: And. . .?
KB: “Their van breaks down. They are in the middle of nowhere and for the first time, they give each other time to talk. Rana opens up about her strict family life, how she can’t let them down and has to live by the book. This makes Kate see Rana in a whole new light and she realises that Rana has been dealing with so much. It’s makes her think that perhaps something will happen between them after all.”
SL: Does it?
KB: “Well. . .the scenes in the van definitely become racy but in a very sophisticated, artistic sort of way which I love. But at the same time, it is Coronation Street and there has to be added drama. The fact that they are not meant to be there and not meant to be alone electrifies the scene and makes it more intense so you never know if one thing is going to lead to another. . .”
