Fourth Corrie star faces sex assault claim

A fourth Coronation Street star could reportedly face police investigation after being accused of sexual misconduct towards a 12-year-old girl.

According to reports the unnamed star – a long-running character and household name who no longer appears in the show – has been named in allegations dating back to the 1960s.

The reports claim that a woman who is now in her 50s complained to police about the incident, which occurred when she went to the Coronation Street studio in Manchester to collect autographs from the cast.

The actor is said to have befriended the girl and offered to drive her home, before doing what is described as something ‘very inappropriate’ to her at the studio.

“She used to go to the studios to get autographs,” a friend of the alleged victim told The Sun.

“It was a real highlight when the stars stood and talked to you. Sometimes they invited the girls into the studios.”

The source added that the woman had later confided in her over the alleged incident, saying she ‘didn’t know what was going on’.

It follows the recent cases of Corrie stars William Roache, Michael Le Vell and Frank Lancel on similar allegations.

Le Vell is facing 19 charges of sexual offences against a child, while Lancel is due to appear in court next month charged with six counts of indecent assault against an underage boy.

Roache, meanwhile, is facing two counts of rape and is also due to appear in court next month.
