Coronation Street newcomer James Burrows on why his mum is a big help in his role as trainee GP, Ali Neeson

Coronation Street star James Burrows says his mum being a nurse comes in handy!

Coronation Street newcomer James Burrows has to deal with lots of medical jargon playing trainee GP, Ali Neeson in the ITV soap.

So, it’s fortunate then that the 26-year-old star, who’s made a big impact as Michelle Connor’s (Kym Marsh) biological son, has plenty of help from his nearest and dearest.

James told TV Times: “It’s been pretty steady so far, but luckily my mum is a nurse and my uncle’s a doctor, so I can always give them a call and get advice on what I need to do.”

“I’m not operating in A & E – it’s just Weatherfield Medical Centre – so that’s good, but there were some terms that I had to question recently that I wasn’t familiar with.”

Meanwhile, Leanne will be seen fighting off Zeedan when he drunkenly makes a pass at her in tonight’s first episode of Corrie.

Coronation Street is on tonight at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on TV.
