The Vicar of Dibley star James Fleet reveals he would love another chance at his guest role on Coronation Street as villain Robbie Sloane.
James starred in seven episodes of the soap back in 2010. Robbie was a criminal in cahoots with Tony Gordon (Gray O’Brien), the businessman-turned-killer! Both Robbie and Tony died in a dramatic hostage situation at Underworld factory, involving Hayley Cropper and Carla Connor.
Corrie fan James told What’s on TV: “I wish I could do my Coronation Street appearance again, so I could do it better! But it was great to do – not many people get shot in Corrie!
“I was thrilled to join that club of people who’ve had a drink in The Rovers. I couldn’t believe it when I was standing there with a pint in my hand!”
James also revealed he’s still mainly recognised for his role as Hugo Horton in BBC comedy The Vicar of Dibley: “I usually get recognised when I’m really scruffy with dirty hair and trying to buy petrol or something, but it doesn’t bother me! I love my job, it’s great fun.”
James stars as an abbot in new BBC1 comedy pilot Monks, which premieres on Tuesday, May 13.
