Coronation Street actress Katherine Kelly has ruled out returning to the soap for a guest appearance during the current Hayley Cropper storyline.
Katherine – who is now starring in Mr Selfridge – had previously hinted that her character Becky McDonald might come back if the going ever got tough for Roy and Hayley.
But despite the latter’s recent cancer diagnosis – leading up to the departure of actress Julie Hesmondhalgh from the soap – Katherine has admitted it is unlikely she will return.
“Unfortunately there’s a really boring logistical problem,” she told the Sun’s TV Magazine.
“There’s such a tight window between when Corrie film the episodes and when they broadcast them – and I’m shooting Mr Selfridge from now until November.
“So even though I’ve always said I’d love to pop back, I don’t think that will be a possibility,” she added. “Isn’t that sad? It’s a shame, because Becky would definitely have come back.”
The actress is set to return to screens on August 8 in 80s crime drama The Field Of Blood – which sees her play a ruthless newspaper editor-in-chief investigating a murder case.
Katherine recently admitted the character was ‘awful and I dislike her immensely’, but added: “It was really nice to play an out-and-out baddie.”
