Kym Marsh has revealed that she is still ‘in talks’ to appear in the Coronation Street musical.

The 35-year-old actress, who plays barmaid Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, wanted to clear up rumours that she is already on board as Elsie Tanner for the forthcoming arena show.

“I was annoyed by reports last week that I’d signed up to play Elsie Tanner in Coronation Street: The Musical. The truth is, we’re in talks, but nothing is confirmed and I haven’t even seen a contract, let alone signed on the dotted line,” she wrote in her weekly column for New!

A rosta of stars are tipped to play Elsie, who was portrayed by the late Pat Phoenix.

Julie Goodyear is to return to her role as brassy Bet Lynch once more for Street Of Dreams, which has been described as a ‘major live musical event’ celebrating the long-running soap, alongside Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts), Brian Capron (Richard Hillman), William Roache (Ken Barlow) and Katy Cavanagh (Julie Carp).

TV presenter Paul O’Grady – a lifelong fan of the soap – will narrate the production, which will make its world premiere in Manchester on March 21.

The show has been written and composed by Trisha Ward, and is partly based on an album released in 2010, Coronation Street – Rogues, Angels, Heroes & Fools, for the 50th anniversary.
