Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh has said that her character Michelle Connor does not want her son Ryan to end up a teenage parent as she was.

Kym revealed that the barmaid was “horrified” at the news that Ryan’s girlfriend Tracy Barlow is pregnant – and insisted that Michelle was more worried about Ryan being a father than she was at becoming a grandparent.

“She’s worried about Ryan because she wants him to have a better life than she had,” Kym said.

“She was a teen when she had Ryan and would rather he didn’t have a baby so young. Having said that, she’d feel much better if it wasn’t Tracy Barlow who is the mother.”

There is more drama to come as Ryan and Tracy – who is the ex-girlfriend of Michelle’s partner Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) – move in with her, but Kym said she hopes Michelle and Steve will survive the change.

“It’s a tricky one. And you never know what’s going to happen in soapland,” she said.

“Steve and Michelle have been together before remember, and he cheated on her so it’s hard to say, but it would be nice and I love working with Simon. Fingers crossed for them.”
