The X Factor judge Mel B has landed a guest role in Coronation Street.

The former Spice Girl will walk the famous Corrie cobbles in a special scene for year’s ITV Text Santa fundraiser on December 19.

A Coronation Street insider told The Sun: “It will be Mel, but not as we have seen her before.”

A Text Santa spokesperson confirmed Mel’s cameo, saying: “It’s great that Mel B will be a guest star in the special Coronation Street sketch for Text Santa.”

This isn’t the first time Mel has appeared in Coronation Street. Mel played the role of shop worker Amy Nelson in 1993 after Louise Duprey, the actress who originally played the part of Amy, quit the show unexpectedly.

Mel will be following in the footsteps of her fellow X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. For last year’s Text Santa, Cheryl appeared in Corrie as herself, alongside murdered barmaid Tina McIntyre.
