Coronation Street star Michael le Vell has said that his character Kevin Webster would already have reunited with screen wife Sally – if it wasn’t for his baby son Jack.

The character is faced with an impossible decision when Sally (played by Sally Dynevor) tells him that she cannot accept Jack – his son from his affair with Molly dobbs – as her own son.

“Kevin hasn’t made any headway getting Sally back because the Jack issue has always been a no go for her,” Michael told Inside Soap magazine. “I think they’d have both got back together ages ago, if it wasn’t for little Jack.”

The couple have had an on-off relationship since 1986, which has seen them walk up the aisle twice – but they last split in 2011 after Molly confessed all about her affair with Kevin as she lay dying from her injuries in the tram crash.

Both actors have said they would love to see the couple get back together – but Michael added that Kevin could not bear to give up his son.

“It depends on what the plot would be, but I really love working with Sally,” he said.

“I leave all that in the hands of our great story-writing team – with them, you never know what’s around the corner.”
