His plays Ben Richardson, an evangelical Christian who impresses Brooke Vincent’s character Sophie and her mum Sally.
A show insider said: “When we decided it was time for Sophie Webster to get her first boyfriend we knew we wanted to play a different slant on a typical soap, teen relationship.
“We thought it would be refreshingly different for Sophie to fall for someone clean-cut and sporty, which is where Ben, star of the school swimming team, came in.”
Lucien made his acting debut in Clocking Off back in 2002 – the series created by former Corrie scriptwriter Paul Abbott.
He went on to star in an adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Johnny and the Bomb in 2006, and the same year appeared in New Street Law.
Many people will remember him as a student in the much-missed drama Grange Hill.
He follows hot on the heels of fellow Grange Hill veteran Sacha Parkinson. She joined the soap this month playing Sophie’s new friend Sian Powers.
