Ex-Coronation Street actress Nikki Sanderson is starring in ‘Join the Girls’ – Cancer Research UK’s first ever mini-musical to launch this year’s Race For Life.

The musical will showcase Race for Life, UK’s largest women-only fundraising event, which has seen over 5.4 million women participating and raising £362 million in the last 17 years.

Cancer Research UK has teamed up with a host of celebrities, stars of the West End stage and women from all over the country who have been touched by cancer to star in the six-minute musical theatre performance that tells the story of Race for Life.

The performances will be hitting major cities including Leeds, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Birmingham and will be shown at various cinemas before the screenings of ‘chick flicks’.

Nikki joins Michelle Heaton, TV presenter Jeff Brazier and This Morning’s Alison Hammond who all take on roles during the tour.

Natasha Dickinson, Head of Race for Life, said: “We believe that ‘Join the Girls’ is a fun and entertaining way to spread the word about Race for Life and we hope it will encourage women to sign up to their nearest event this summer. We want to make this year’s Race for Life series the biggest yet and raise more money than ever to help beat cancer.”
