Coronation Street actress Julia Haworth has admitted the novelty of walking into the Rovers Return hasn’t worn off even after six years on the soap.

The actress – who plays Claire Peacock – also said she feels grateful to still be a part of the show.

“It was very strange walking down the cobbles, but very quickly you don’t take it for granted – I still walk into the Rovers and smile even to this day,” she said.

“It does become your second home really. You walk down the street as if it’s a real street.

“When you have the privilege to take people round – such as people that have bidded in charity auctions for it there’s a real feeling of pride when you take people round and you can explain to them why the street’s so small.”

And the 29-year-old also said she still had fond memories of her very first day on the set.

“There was real excitement and I was made to feel so welcome by cast and crew alike,” she explained. “I was 23 when I started, and I’d been watching it on the television for 20 odd years.

“It’s a brilliant place to work, and I think if you asked anyone here they’d say exactly the same.”
