When it comes to Coronation Street, we’re all dying (pun apologies) to know how things are going to pan out with the Callum Logan murder storyline, and the resulting fallout for the rest of the Corrie characters.
Chatting to What’s on TV on the red carpet at BAFTA TV this evening, Samia Ghadie, who plays hairdresser Maria Connor, teased:
“Maria is involved [in the Platt story] … but I don’t want to tell you too much!”
Samia also let’s slip there are a number of exciting new storylines coming up for Maria – and not all of them involve her love interest Luke Britton (played by Dean Fagan). Samia’s starred as Maria in Corrie since 2000 and recently returned to the Weatherfield after maternity leave. She revealed:
“Maria’s got her own stuff going – not just with Luke. There are a few new storylines that don’t involve him as well!
“I’m really excited to be back. Kate Oates our new producer has great ideas for us all – we’re all raring to go!”
Samia Ghadie didn’t want to tempt fate but she did admit she’d a gut feeling Coronation Street were going to win a BAFTA this year. Sadly Samia was wrong! EastEnders walked away with the gong for Soap & Continuing Drama.
She said: “The BAFTA feels like a proper nod to say we’re all doing aright. It means a lot if you win a BAFTA!”
