Teenage gangs are reportedly set to hit the streets of Weatherfield, as Coronation Street bosses plan a gritty new storyline for Norris Cole.

According to the Sun, the new storyline will see Norris, played by Malcolm Hebden, and the Kabin targeted by the gang on their crime spree.

They apparently attack and rob the pensioner as he tries to stand up to them, leaving him bruised and shaken.

A source told the paper: “The writers want to reflect the growing problem of gang crime in our cities. They’re handling it a sensitive manner and showing how the most vulnerable often fall victim to gang crime.”

But it seems the Kabin isn’t the Weatherfield business on the gang’s radar, as the thugs set their sights on Roy’s Rolls.

The attack on the cafe and owner Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson, apparently sparks a dramatic chain of events that sees Jerry Morton (Michael Starke) hospitalised.

The takeaway owner reportedly chases the gang away from the cafe, but ends up in an ambulance when he suffers a heart attack during the pursuit.

The insider apparently added: “The storyline will bring the Mortons back into the frame.

“First Jerry is hospitalised, then his teenage daughter Kayleigh identifies one of the gang as Kenzie Judd, a boy she fancies at school.”
