Coronation Street killer Tony Gordon is set for an explosive return to the cobbles.

According to the Mirror, Tony (Gray O’Brien), who is awaiting trial for the murder of Liam Connor and attempted murder of Roy Cropper, busts out of jail after bribing cellmate Robbie Sloan, played by The Vicar Of Dibley star James Fleet.

Viewers will see Tony feign another heart attack and be rushed to hospital for treatment, but Robbie is lying in wait for the ambulance, and threatens the guards at gun point before securing Tony’s escape.

Once he’s back in Coronation Street, Tony’s ex Carla Connor (Alison King) and kindly Roy (David Neilson) are left fearing for their lives.

A source told the newspaper: “Without doubt this will make brilliant, enthralling TV with evil Tony back to his old self.”
