Coronation Street’s live episode could face some disturbance on Wednesday night – from the noise of cheering football fans.

The soap is due to celebrate 60 years of ITV with a live instalment of the soap beginning at 7.30pm.

But Manchester United are set to play Ipswich Town at Old Trafford tonight, with kick off at 7.45pm.

If a goal is scored in the first half there has been speculation the din of over 75,000 United supporters could be heard at the soap’s new studios at Trafford Wharf, which is less than a mile away.

But Corrie bosses are confident that it will not be an issue as all the internal sets are sound-proofed, according to the Manchester Evening News.

An insider said: “We’ve been here for nearly two years now and never had an issue with match noise before.”
