Danniella Westbrook has missed out on a place in the Dancing On Ice 2010 final after narrowly losing out in the last skate-off of the series.

The EastEnders star – who finished top of the scoreboard on last Sunday’s show – was forced to skate for survival after finding herself in the bottom two with Gary Lucy.

And the judges ramped up the tension as both Karen and Nicky voted to save Gary. However Jason Gardiner then turned things around with a vote for Danniella.

“It is about performance to me as well and I want an exciting final,” he said before voting to save Danniella.

Emma Bunton also opted for Danniella – leaving Robin Cousins with the casting vote. And he cited “quality, style and content” in his decision to put Gary through to the final.

Afterwards Danniella said it had been “amazing to come this far” on the show.

“Chris and Jayne, the reason I joined the show was to skate with you,” she added, “so thanks very much.”

“And thanks to my kids and my husband for being here every week. I know it’s been really long but I can do the school run again tomorrow!”

Gary Lucy, meanwhile, won favour with the judges in the skate-off despite tumbling over on the ice right at the end of his routine and landing flat on his back while holding skating partner Maria Filippov.

Head judge Robin Cousins later ruled that the fall had happened after the routine had finished, and so should not be taken into account. “At least I got to have a cuddle on the ice,” the actor joked.

He now joins Emmerdale star Hayley Tamaddon and Hollyoaks‘ Kieron Richardson in next week’s final after they both won through on the public vote.

Hayley is the favourite to win the series with bookmakers Paddy Power offering odds of 1-10, ahead of second favourite Gary at 8-1.
