The six remaining celebrity skaters in Dancing on Ice have been getting to grips with a series of props in their bid to remain in the competition.
And this week was a particularly good one for ex-Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon, who became the second celebrity of the series, after Ray Quinn, to receive top marks from a judge.
Ruthie Henshall gave Zoe the maximum 6.0 points for her routine to Alesha Dixon ‘s The Boy Does Nothing, which incorporated a stick.
“To me a brilliant performance is one that makes me feel,” she told her. “I was so excited watching you, and couldn’t stop smiling. You’re a contender.”
Zoe finished second on the judges’ scoreboard just behind Ray Quinn, who still came out on top with 26 out of 30 but failed to score any top marks.
Jason Gardiner was particularly down on Ray’s performance, which incorporated a trilby hat as a prop.
“This should have been a week when you excelled and took to it like a duck to water. However, there were lots of things you were flopping tonight. I was a bit disappointed,” he said.
In fact, Jason’s barbed comments came thick and fast on Sunday’s show, with Jessica Taylor coming in for criticism. “It’s ironic that you have an umbrella there,” he said after she had skated to the Rihanna chart-topper Umbrella, using one as her prop, “because that didn’t stop it being a wet performance.”
And he also had harsh words Coleen Nolan, who was left adrift at the bottom of the scoreboard after a routine which incorporated a canary yellow feather boa. “That was particularly painful,” he told her, “you looked like a moulting Big Bird .”
