Dancing On Ice: it’s the quarter-final!

The five remaining celebrities in Dancing on Ice 2009 have performed some of their toughest routines yet in a bid to land a place in the semi-final.

And for Colleen Nolan it was an even bigger challenge than ever, with the TV presenter taking to the rink despite a fall during rehearsals which left her with a badly injured wrist.

As in previous weeks, she finished bottom of the judges’ scoreboard following her routine to the Bond theme Diamonds Are Forever – although the judges said it was her best performance to date.

“I’ve been waiting for a performance like that from you,” Jason Gardiner told her. “You really tried and it was much better,” Robin Cousins added.

Once again, Ray Quinn found himself at the top of the scoreboard with 28 points after his performance, in which he recreated the Russian Split Jump move made famous by Cousins.

The former Olympic skater described Quinn as “a pleasure to watch”.

There was also praise for Jessica Taylor, skating to the Duffy hit Mercy, although they gave mixed reactions to Donal McIntyre and also to Zoe Salmon, who delivered a passionate performance to the Leona Lewis hit Run.

“There were times when it was glorious,” Cousins told Zoe, “but there were times when I saw nerves and not emotion.”
