Dancing On Ice twosome Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have said that the show could return in the future despite coming to an end next year.

The ninth, and final, series of the show – which features the pair as mentors – is due to kick off in early 2014.

However Christopher Dean did not rule out the possibility of a comeback at some point.

“You never know,” he said. “ITV rested Saturday Night Takeaway so it might come back.”

He also hinted that both he and Jayne might consider a return in the future, saying: “A great person says ‘never say never’.”

The ninth series of Dancing On Ice will be an all-star special featuring some of the most popular contestants from previous series – with Christopher saying it would be ‘very nostalgic’.

“I think it’s going to be the best series because we are having an all-star cast and have got several of the past winners that will be competing head to head,” he explained.

“From a competition point of view, it’s all these past winners coming back to find out, ultimately, who is the best skater.”

Jayne added: “We’ve got an amazing cast, we’ve got lots of our finalists and champions so there’s going to be a lot of competitiveness within the ranks.”

Dancing On Ice will take to the rink for the final time in January.
