The Emmerdale star, who had been the bookies’ favourite to get the chop, was in the bottom two for the first time, as was Zoe, despite finishing second on the judges’ scoreboard and landing full marks from Ruthie Henshall.
However the judges voted unanimously to save the ex-Blue Peter presenter, although admitted it was a difficult decision to make.
“You’re two fantastic girls,” said Karen Barber, “it’s so sad to have to lose one of you.”. Jason Gardiner, meanwhile, admitted it was “a very close skate-off, one of the closest we’ve had.”
Robin Cousins however had some words of comfort for Roxanne. “You’re going home having given your best performance,” he said.
And she described her time on the show as “a treat”.
“It’s honestly been the most amazing experience and I can’t believe I’ve even made it this far, thank you to everyone who’s kept me in.”
Earlier on, Roxanne had received her highest score of the series with her routine to the Pussycat Dolls‘ hit Don’t Ya.
She even scored words of praise from Jason, who made many barbed comments towards her during her time on the show, at one point saying she had “as much charisma as a Cabbage Patch Doll”.
As well as Zoe Salmon, four other celebrities – Jessica Taylor, Donal McIntyre, Coleen Nolan and Ray Quinn – remain in the competition.
