Suzanne Shaw has made a triumphant return to Dancing On Ice, picking up the highest score so far this series – but it wasn’t such good news for show legend Todd Carty.
The former Hear’Say singer turned soap star – who won the 2008 series – kicked off her bid for the new series title with an emotional routine to Rihanna’s hit Stay, with skating partner Matt Evers.
And her efforts were rewarded with an impressive 35.5 out of 40 from the judges, who were wowed by her efforts.
“There is something about you two when you skate,” Karen Barber told her, “I loved every minute of it.”
Meanwhile Ashley Roberts added: “It was sultry and grounded…that was a performance.”
While Suzanne scored to the top of the Dancing On Ice scoreboard, Todd Carty – returning to the series after famously skating off the ice in 2009 – found himself at the bottom of the heap with just 16.5 points.
The former EastEnders actor, who is partnering Alexandra Schauman, certainly looked the part, donning a bright red and yellow satin shirt for his mambo-inspired routine – but the judges remained unmoved.
Robin Cousins told him: “We have to be thankful that you stayed on two feet and in the rink.”
However Jason Gardiner wasn’t quite so kind, asking instead: “Why are you here? You haven’t improved at all.”
