Dancing on Ice hopeful Jennifer Metcalfe has revealed how she coped with the tragic death of her father when she was just 15.
The Hollyoaks star – who is partnering French skater Sylvain Longchambon in the show – told the Mirror that she still has no idea how she managed to deal with the loss – although does say that it made her “stronger”.
“I don’t know how I coped at that time,” she said.
“I suppose as a 15-year-old girl I dealt with it surprisingly well, but it absolutely ripped me in two.
“Dad was my best friend. I’d love for him to be in the crowd to see me on Dancing on Ice, or to see me on television every day on Hollyoaks.
“Sadly he’s not. But I like to think he’s looking down on me from somewhere, watching. He was really supportive when I was into baton twirling as a child.
Jennifer – who raised a few eyebrows on last Sunday’s show when she and Sylvain shared a kiss at the end of her routine – has also refused to dismiss rumours of a romance between the pair, but has denied they only kissed to win more votes.
“We were both caught in the moment,” she said. God knows when we actually kissed. We could have snogged all the way through and I wouldn’t remember a thing, the whole routine was just a blur.
Suggesting we were just trying to win votes is ridiculous,” the actress added. “It makes us sound desperate, but it’s not that at all.
“If I kiss Sylvain, or if he kisses me, it’s because we want to and because we are happy. It just happened. I didn’t even give it a second thought until people started talking about it.”
