Donal MacIntyre offers advice for Dancing on Ice

Donal MacIntyre has revealed his recipe for success on Dancing On Ice – getting slated by Jason Gardiner.

The undercover reporter, who reached the final of the ice-skating competition in 2009, claimed a dressing-down from the glacial judge was the best way contestants could get viewers on their side.

“The more Jason gives you guff, the more votes you’ll get from people at home… annoy Jason, provoke him if you can,” Donal said.

“The only other advice is if you fall down, lift yourself back up as quickly as you can.”

Speaking at the premiere of new Disney film Tangled, the father-of-two said the standard of this year’s Dancing On Ice line-up was “incredible”.

“I was gutted that anybody left before the competition started. But I know how it is because I was in the first skate-off with Graeme Le Saux and really, to go out before the competition starts is just the cruellest bit of TV,” he added.

“I think Kerry Katona will do quite well – I think any partner of Dan Whiston will be in the final. And Vanilla Ice, I think he’s got the moves, so it’s a much more open competition than before. There’s no king and queen, there’s no guaranteed finalist.”
