Dancing On Ice star Duncan James has become the second person to injure themselves on the show in less than a week.

The former Blue singer took a heavy knock during training before last Saturday’s show, which caused his rib to pop out as he was running through his routine with partner Maria Filippov.

But the consummate professional performed strapped up and earned himself a place in next weekend’s final.

A spokesperson for the show said that the rib was “popped not broken” and insisted that Duncan would be ready to perform in the final on Saturday night.

“It’s still painful but he’s still training,” she said.

Duncan has said that he was worried the injury might impair his performance.

“I’m finding it hard to breathe,” he told The Sun. “I’m upset because I’m so excited about getting through to the final and I don’t want it to stop me doing lifts. Hopefully it’ll get better this week.”

This is not the first time the singer has suffered an injury on the show. Early on in the series he prompted fears that he would have to pull out of the competition because of a back injury.

Just a few days later Andi Peters broke his ankle while training.
