Kyran Bracken has missed out on a place in the Dancing On Ice semi-final after he becme the latest celebrity to be eliminated from the all-star series.

The rugby ace  – who was the series champion in 2007 – had already survived two previous skate-offs, seeing off competition from Zaraah Abrahams and Suzanne Shaw.

However he was unable to make it third time lucky when he found himself in the bottom two alongside Sam Attwater.

And after both had performed their ‘save me’ skates – with Kyran skating to Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars and Sam reprising his Riverdance routine – the verdict from the judges was unanimous.

“It was a group of champions and to finish off on our best ever skate, was for me fantastic,” he said afterwards.

“You have got some fantastic skaters out there and it is not a done deal who the winner is, honestly.”

Kyran also paid tribute to his skating partner Nina Ulanova, saying: “From the bottom of my heart you have been the best to work with, you are a star and I look forward to working with you on tour.”

Earlier in the show Kyran picked up his highest score of the series so far in a show which saw the remaining five celebrities perform solo as well as with their skating partners.

“You have had the biggest evolution for me as a performer in this competition,” Ashley Roberts told him.

Meanwhile Karen Barber added: “You do take risks but recently they haven’t paid off. Today was a good performance.”

Kyran admitted over the weekend that he had been ‘frustrated’ with his scores from the judges, and had been playing it safe on the ice as a result.

“I’ve done things that have never been done before on the show and got no credit. I did a death drop in week two and got a 7.5 from Jason Gardiner,” he told The Sun.

“But others are doing stuff done every year and getting brilliant marks. So now I think there is no point trying things hard or dangerous.”

Four celebrities – Beth Tweddle, Sam Attwater, Hayley Tamaddon and Ray Quinn – will now compete in next Sunday’s Dancing On Ice semi-final.
