Dancing on Ice 2011 favourite Sam Attwater has landed the highest score of the series so far, on Sunday’s ’round the world’ themed edition of the show.

The former EastEnders star – who lost his place on top of the leaderboard last Sunday, found himself back in pole position this week after scoring a whopping 27 out of 30 from the judges for his Riverdance routine.

In doing so, he not only scored the highest mark so far this series but became the first person to receive an individual score of higher than 8.5, with all of the judges giving him a 9.0.

“I don’t know how you just pulled off Riverdance on Ice, but you nailed it,” Emma Bunton told him, while Robin Cousins added, “You created a wonderful piece of choreography, it was wonderful to watch.”

Meanwhile, last week’s scoreboard leader Laura Hamilton tied for joint second place this week with Chloe Madeley, both scoring 24.5.

The children’s TV presenter kicked off the show with a Charleston, while Chloe weighed in with a Middle Eastern-inspired dance to Holly Valance’s Kiss Kiss.

Robin described Laura’s routine as a “fantastic start to the show”, while Emma was full of praise for Chloe, “Everything is becoming much tighter with your arms and hands,” she said, “everything is coming together nicely.”

And it was another good week for Vanilla Ice and Jeff Brazier, the former performing a tango, the latter a Viennese Waltz.

“I thought you got the balance absolutely right,” Jason Gardiner said of the rapper’s performance, while Emma loved Jeff’s routine. “You for me captured the essence of a real Viennese Waltz and I loved it,” she said.

However, Denise Welch and Johnson Beharry VC found themselves adrift at the bottom of the scoreboard, tying for bottom place on 14.5 points.

Johnson won faint praise from the panel with his effort at an Argentine Tango on ice. “I’m not sure that the passion came through naturally,” Emma said, “But I have to applaud you for trying something different, well done.”

She also praised Denise – who wiggled her way frantically through a fast-paced samba, saying, “You looked like you were really enjoying yourself,” but the actress received no mercy from Jason.

“This is supposed to be a high-octane and seductive dance,” he complained, “yours looked like you needed an MRI scan.”

The results will be revealed later on Sunday evening, with one more celebrity hanging up their skates for good.

Sunday night’s show saw former contestant Coleen Nolan step in for co-presenter Holly Willoughby, after she pulled out of the show due to illness.

Philip Schofield had revealed on Twitter earlier that Holly – who is due to give birth to her second child in May – had been ordered to rest by doctors after suffering from migraines.
